The Spanish Teacher at Lyle High School is Bill Daniels. He teaches both Spanish I and Spanish II.
Anyone interested in a self-help program to learn Spanish should go to the following website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/index.shtml
Spanish I ~ Credit 1.0
Elective: Spanish I is an introduction to the basics of the Spanish language, including vocabulary, grammar, and verb conjugation. A study of the language naturally includes a study of the people and their culture.
The student must participate in oral drills in class and must prepare some brief memorized dialogues throughout the year in addition to completing daily written assignments. Grades are based on oral presentations, creative projects, written homework, quizzes, and tests. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to carry on simple conversations about limited subjects.
Spanish II ~ Credit 1.0
This course is designed for students planning to continue formal education or for students who have a sincere desire and ability in Spanish.
Spanish II continues the study of the basics of the Spanish language but with more emphasis on verb conjugation, reading comprehension, and verbal skills. The student will be required to participate in discussions and oral drills in class, to present a written and oral report on a particular Spanish-speaking country, to work with other students in role-play situations, and to consistently complete daily written work. Grades are based on homework, oral presentations, reports and creative projects, quizzes, and tests. The student will read some material outside the textbook and will use the language increasingly more within the classroom.
